Transforming India into a Powerhouse of Engineering Exports: Highlights from EEPC India’s 70th Year Celebrations

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal, recently inaugurated the 70th anniversary celebrations of EEPC India (Engineering Export Promotion Council). The event, held in New Delhi, was marked by the unveiling of EEPC India’s new logo and discussions on the country’s engineering exports roadmap. Shri Goyal emphasized the critical role engineering exports play in India’s journey toward becoming a Viksit Bharat (Developed India) and highlighted the government’s initiatives to support this sector.

Engineering Excellence for a Developed India

Speaking to leaders from the engineering industry, Shri Goyal called for a transformation of India into a global hub for engineering exports. He encouraged the engineering fraternity to focus on resilient supply chains, high-quality production, and a commitment to sustainability. These elements, he said, are crucial for realizing India’s vision of becoming a developed nation.

Shri Goyal also praised the Council for its contributions across sectors such as mobility, capital goods, and steel, describing EEPC India as a “model export promotion council.” He noted that EEPC India’s ambitious goal of achieving $300 billion in engineering exports by 2030 reflects the confidence and determination of a rising India.

Zero Defect, Zero Effect: India’s Export Philosophy

Echoing Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s mantra of Zero Defect, Zero Effect, Shri Goyal highlighted the importance of producing high-quality, sustainable products that leave minimal environmental impact. He urged exporters to prioritize cost competitiveness and innovation, which are key to enhancing India’s global reputation in engineering exports.

EEPC India: 70 Years of Growth and Innovation

EEPC India Chairman Shri Arun Kumar Garodia shared insights into the Council’s journey over the past seven decades. From just 40 members in 1955 to over 9,500 members in 2024, EEPC India has significantly advanced India’s engineering sector. The Council has supported exporters in achieving a record $109 billion in engineering exports in FY24, contributing to the success of initiatives like Make in India.

Shri Garodia highlighted the government’s and EEPC India’s collaborative efforts through initiatives such as:

  • Bharat Mobility
  • International Engineering Sourcing Show (IESS)
  • Indian Engineering Exhibitions (INDEE)
  • Export Excellence Awards
  • Quality and Green Awards

These programs aim to boost innovation, sustainability, and competitiveness in the engineering sector.

Looking Ahead: Engineering a Bright Future

As EEPC India embarks on its next chapter, it remains committed to expanding the global footprint of Indian engineering exports. Shri Goyal’s call to action—transforming India into a global engineering powerhouse—sets the stage for continued growth, resilience, and sustainability.

With the engineering sector playing a pivotal role, India is well-positioned to meet its ambitious export targets and emerge as a leader on the global stage.
