Labour Identification Number (LIN), a number provided by Shram Suvidha Portal has been issued by Ministry of Labour & Employment and launched by Honourable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi on October 16, 2014. It is a consolidated identification number that will gradually replace multiple registration numbers issued separately by Labour Enforcement Agencies such as Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation(EPFO), Chief Labour Commissioner(Central){CLC(C)} and Directorate General Of Mines Safety(DGMS) etc.

It will be a One-Stop-Shop for Labour Law Compliance and Shram Suvidha Portal have already generated 26,10,865 Lakh Labour Identification Numbers. The LIN number so allotted was communicated by using the email addresses and mobile numbers of the unit representatives available in Shram Suvidha database. It wants to develop a portal that is based on One Unit One Identifier.

Shram Suvidha Platform will help organizations submit all kinds of Registrations, Reporting of Inspections and Submission of Returns under Labour laws in a single online portal. As Government of India plans to remove all Labour enforcement laws, it has been envisioned as a single point of contact between employer, employee and enforcement agencies bringing in transparency in their day-to-day interactions.
