MCA Extends Annual Filing Deadline – A Timely Relief for Companies!
The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) just gave Indian companies a reason to breathe easier!
Through its latest General Circular No. 06/2025 (dated 17th October 2025), the MCA has extended the due date for filing annual returns and financial statements till 31st December 2025 — without any additional fees.
Why This Move Matters
Businesses have been adapting to the new MCA Version 3 portal, which introduced revised filing forms like MGT-7, MGT-7A, and AOC-4. While these updates aim to simplify compliance in the long term, the transition has brought a few technical hiccups — and the MCA has clearly listened to stakeholder concerns.
This relief comes at the perfect time for company secretaries, finance teams, and compliance professionals juggling FY 2024–25 filings.
What’s Included in the Extension
The waiver applies to all the updated annual filing forms on the MCA V3 portal, including:
MGT-7 | MGT-7A | AOC-4 | AOC-4 CFS | AOC-4 NBFC (Ind AS) | AOC-4 XBRL
So, if you haven’t yet filed your company’s annual forms — now’s your chance!
File by 31st December 2025 to avoid late fees.
Don’t Forget the AGM
One quick reminder: the extension only applies to e-form submissions — not to the statutory AGM deadline under the Companies Act, 2013.
Miss your AGM date, and penalties may still apply.
What You Should Do Now
-
Finalize audited financials for FY 2024–25
-
Prepare updated e-forms on MCA V3
-
File well before the new due date
-
Keep your AGM compliance separate and on track
The Bigger Picture
This move shows a balanced, proactive approach by the MCA — easing compliance stress while supporting smooth adoption of the new system.
For SMEs, especially, this flexibility means fewer fines, better accuracy, and a chance to catch up without panic.
A practical decision that combines policy with empathy — something every professional will appreciate.
